Question:

Can you tell me in three sentences, what your book is about?

Answer: The book explores aspects of Africa, and its people, seldom acknowledged and rarely understood. Contrary to common belief, the story shows our lives are at large decided by the actions of people around us, mainly those who were here before us - our own choices are circumstantial, and fate holds ultimate sway. Confronting self-deception and illusion, the journey of the characters re-ignites the memory of love’s deepest power.

Question:

Is "Dance of the Hornbills" a story about the author's life?

Answer: “Dance of the Hornbills” is not an autobiography by any means. It is true, inevitably so, that there are parts of the author’s endeavors reflected, but likewise are there parts and traits of most every human being that ever crossed his path. But the book is fiction, and the mere result of observation blended with experience, crafted on the wings of imagination. A word from the masters of our times on quality fiction writing: Ernest Hemingway said, 'You invent fiction, but what you invent it out is what counts. True fiction must come from everything you’ve ever known, ever seen, ever felt, ever learnt.' Tennessee Williams - 'If the writing is honest, it cannot be separated from the man who wrote it.'

Answer: Yes, there will be a sequel, in the sense that the story is set in the same region, written in the same style, carrying a similar theme. But the characters are new, their journey different and their destiny, for now, a mystery.

Question:

Is there a book you've read more than once?

Answer: Yes! "STORY" by ROBERT MCKEE. I've lost track of how many times I've read it over the last twenty years. The ultimate master; my biggest mentor. “Write every day, line by line, page by page, hour by hour. Do this despite fear. For above all else, beyond imagination and skill, what the world asks of you is courage, courage to risk rejection, ridicule and failure. As you follow the quest for stories told with meaning and beauty, study thoughtfully but write boldly. Then, like the hero of the fable, your dance will dazzle the world.” - ROBERT MCKEE
